Fans of the current Saginaw Art exhibition, “Transcendence: Beyond the Terrestrial Plane” will have the opportunity to learn more about the exhibit from James Terrell himself. A virtual artist talk option will be available on February 18 at 1:00 p.m. and an in-person artist visit will take place on March 9 at 6:00 pm.
About the Exhibit
The work of James Terrell’s collages invite visitors into a culture of fashion and musicality all under the cloak of African-American quilt work. The lines in every piece seem to lock together like sheet music, or power lines, carrying electricity, carrying the human spirit. All of the lines and colors are informed by the predecessors in the art world’s Terrell criss-crosses. From collage, to portraiture, op art to color theory, these figurative works are boiling with fun and vibrance.
The exhibit opened January 4, 2023 and will run through April 16, 2023.
