As Saginaw prepares to host the 2024 Memorial Cup, the Spirit have made a pair of additions to their business operations. Kayla Pionk joins the team as the Local Event Manager for the 2024 Memorial Cup, while Jimmy Greene has been hired as a Special Events Sales Director.
“Considering Kayla’s extensive experience in sports and special event management, she is the perfect fit for the CHL and the Saginaw Spirit to be the Local Event Manager,” said Spirit President and Managing Partner Craig Goslin. “Her deep knowledge of running events and her ability to develop long, trusting relationships will ensure that the 2024 Memorial Cup in Saginaw is managed and executed in the best manner possible.”
Pionk has spent the last four years as a Special Projects Coordinator at Saginaw Valley State University, helping to promote continuing education programs as well as the Great Lakes Bay Economic Club. Additionally, she has worked with Saginaw Township Community Schools as human resources support, and was an Assistant Event Coordinator at the HORIZONS Conference Center.
Kayla’s work on the 2024 Memorial Cup marks a return to the sporting world. She spent several seasons as the Retention Manager for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA) before being promoted to Customer Service Director.
Along with Pionk, Jimmy Greene joins the Spirit in their preparations for the 2024 Memorial Cup. Greene will join the team’s sales force with a special focus on Memorial Cup-related items.
“Jimmy Greene has literally thousands of trusted relationships throughout Saginaw, the Great Lakes Bay Region, the State of Michigan and the entire USA,” said Craig Goslin. “His decades of sales experience and his ability to make everyone around him better will add a significant element to our business strategy. It’s an honor to introduce Jimmy Greene as an integral part of the fabric of the Saginaw Spirit Family.”
Greene is a prominent figure in the Saginaw business landscape. The founder of Jimmy Greene & Associates, he also served as the CEO/President of the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC) Michigan, Greater Michigan Chapter. He has also served as the Public Policy Regional Representative for The National Federation of Independent Business.
Greene’s community work includes the founding of the Saginaw County African American Leadership Training Institute for Young Men and the Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy.
