Financial Plus Credit Union launches free billboard contest for minority-owned businesses

Minority-owned business owners have the chance to win free billboard advertisements through Financial Plus Credit Union’s Minority Business Spotlight Project.

The project will award two small minority-owned businesses free billboard advertising, design included, for four weeks. Eligible small businesses are invited to participate in the initiative by submitting their entries to Financial Plus now through September 8, 2023.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be 18+ and a current Michigan resident to apply
  • Business must be located in Michigan and in operation for 1+ year(s)
  • Business must be at least 51% minority owned, managed, and controlled
  • Business must have less than 50 employees to be considered a small businesses
  • Business must provide Articles of Incorporation from Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) of Michigan if selected as a winner

“This initiative is designed to increase exposure for local minority-owned small businesses in Michigan, fostering a sense of support within the community,” said Allen Williams, Diversity Equity and Inclusion Business Partner at Financial Plus. “The project reflects Financial Plus’s unwavering commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and the growth of local minority businesses.”

The Billboards of Inclusion’ Project will undergo a thorough selection process, carried out by a committee from Financial Plus that will select two deserving recipients. They will carefully review each entry to verify eligibility requirements, Application Package completion, and essay content.
