La Unión Cívica Mexicana of Saginaw presents the 2nd annual Saginaw Taco Fest on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Saginaw Township Soccer Complex, 4033 McCarty Rd., in Saginaw, Michigan from 11 am to 6 p.m.
The community event will feature 10 Taco trucks bringing some of the best Mexican cuisine in the area and throughout Michigan. Participating vendors include local favorites T&T Authentic Mexican Cuisine, Cob King, Mr. Patitio Man, Manny’s Barbecue, Wonder Burger, Big Pete’s Tacos, the Love Shack, along with Gordo and Flaco Tacos of Flint, MI, and Torta Express and Tacos El Rodeo from Detroit Southwest. Grupo Vicio of Detroit will provide entertainment throughout the day, along with Bouncy houses and DJ music by DJ Jesse Sanchez. A stage and tents with seating will also be provided, but guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
The long-time civic organization at 2715 Wadsworth in Saginaw is presenting this event as a fundraiser to upgrade their grounds and parking lot. For more than 30 years, the parking lot has not had new pavement or a complete upgrade. The Cívica organization will seek grants and sponsors and ask for donations to make what they’re calling the “Cívica Parking Lot Upgrade” a reality. Plans include expanded parking, new outside lights, and fencing on the east side of the building.
“It will be a laborious, arduous task, but we have to do this. We can do this! It’s time,” says Larry Rodarte, foudner of Mi Gente Magazine. “We need the community’s support.”
Admission for the event is $5, with children under 10 free. For more information, contact 682-241-7224.
