A taste of the old downtown Gus Macker basketball festivals will return to Saginaw.

New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral, 3121 Sheridan, is hosting the 3-on-3 Urban Roundball Classic this Saturday, Sept. 2, and continuing Sept. 9.

There are no fees to take part. Teams of males or females, all ages, should register in the morning with action starting at 12:30 p.m.

Games will take place in the parking lot but not on the concrete. Bishop Larry Camel and organizers are bringing in a composite court with space for three games at the same time. Referees will oversee the action, similar to the Gus Busters of yore.

New Birth continues a busy schedule of family events, all with the shared intention of maintaining peace in the community, as Bishop Camel maintains his activism though Parishioners and Patrol and an array of programs
