A common local lament, which civic leaders insist isn’t true, is “there’s nothing to do” in Saginaw.

Another grievance, rooted in the tough pandemic economy and spiraling inflation, is “we can’t afford it.”

Think again, say organizers of the 26th annual Cathedral District Children’s Festival, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Hoyt and Howard streets, between Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital and the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, formerly St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Their handbill proclaims: “Games are 10 cents each; a plate of food is 25 cents.”

Free activities will include a giant slide, martial arts, entertainment and prizes.
