The Child and Family Services of Saginaw has been awarded a grant of $25,000 from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund, established by the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).

Jill Hogenson

“This significant contribution will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to ‘Build Better Lives’ in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Our agency’s commitment to being accessible and serving all those within our community has been our passion over the 150 years we have served our region.  This grant validates the importance of our work and assists in providing the resources necessary to sustain lasting change in our community”, said Jill Hogenson, President and CEO.

The $35 million Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund was created from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds awarded to the State of Michigan to support Michigan-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits with annual revenues of less than $1 million, who have demonstrated necessary expenditures and losses incurred after March 3, 2021, due to the pandemic. The fund was designed with special attention to underserved and underrepresented populations including nonprofits in rural areas and those led by and serving, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic.

Michigan-based nonprofits applied to the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund in the spring of 2023. Applications were reviewed by a panel of Michigan nonprofit leaders in the summer and a total of 1,373 awardees were selected this fall. Child & Family Services will use the awarded funds to continue to reach those with or without private insurance as well as those who benefit from a sliding fee scale. “We will passionately do the important work of providing hope and healing often in the darkest hours of the lives of those we serve,” said Jill Hogenson.
