The warm weather in Saginaw brings many wonderful things, including construction projects and road improvements. Travis Hare, City Engineer, provided an update on future road and construction projects at the April 22, 2024 City Council Meeting. Citizens can click here to view this presentation on the city’s YouTube channel.

Road construction for 2024 includes reconstruction on 17th Street from Walnut Street to Janes Avenue and reconstruction on Jefferson Avenue. Construction Projects also include Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation work, one-way pair conversions on 5th and  6th Avenues and preventative maintenance on the Center Street Bridge. There will also be several ADA sidewalk ramps installed and sidewalk replacements in the city during the summer of 2024.

In an effort to keep citizens informed of road construction, closures, and the impact on travel throughout Saginaw, the City’s website features an interactive road construction map and project dashboard to help residents and travelers navigate the City’s planned road repairs. To view click the “Road Closures” on the city’s website, or click here. The site provides information on all current road  construction projects and bridge repairs, project timelines, maps, and the detour routes. Citizens can click on the various projects and road closures listed in the left margin to  see the project detail, or just click the project on the map and the project detail will be shown. Details on all current projects are also listed at the bottom of the webpage.

Improving roads has been and will continue to be a key priority for the City of Saginaw. Although these projects can cause detours and travel delays, better roads enhance travel and safety in neighborhoods and ultimately lead to the long-term greater good of the Saginaw community.

Travis Hare

City Engineer Travis Hare commented on this year’s construction season. “We are pleased to start these important projects in the city. We understand these projects  will affect quite a few people who live and work in the city. I encourage citizens to visit  our webpage for updates on all our road and construction projects. The interactive map  and project information will help keep citizens informed as they plan their routes and should make this construction season a little easier on everyone.”

For questions concerning road closures and construction projects, contact the city of Saginaw’s Engineering Division at (989) 759-1410.
