Monday, May 6 is the last day to sign up to assist with the Spring 2024 Team Up to Clean Up events. The citywide initiative will take place on Saturday, May 11 from 9 am to 1pm at key locations throughout the city and again on Friday, May 17 from 9 am to 1pm in the downtown business area.

Team Up to Clean Up is a community-wide day of service where residents, neighborhood groups, and local community organizations come together to help beautify the city. The 2024 Team Up to Clean Up events are extremely important as the City prepares for the 2024 Canadian Hockey League’s Memorial Cup Event coming to Saginaw from May 24- June 2, 2024. The 10-day CHL championship tournament is expected to bring thousands of hockey fans and spectators from all over the world to the Saginaw area.

The events will begin at City Hall for the kickoff. Volunteers will then break up into groups and head out to selected areas of the city to begin the cleanup. Volunteers will return to City Hall between 12-12:30 p.m. for the wrap-up and lunch. Through funding and supplies received from various sponsors, the City will provide volunteers with gloves and trash bags to assist with the litter clean up.

Mayor Brenda Moore

“We have such a beautiful city, and we all need to take greater pride and responsibility for our neighborhoods. We need to be proud of the fact that the City of Saginaw was selected to host the Memorial Cup Event coming to downtown Saginaw in May. We need to get busy and get ready! I invite all residents, community groups, and local business owners to support this event by signing up to volunteer or sponsor. Together, we can make a huge difference in our city,” said Mayor Brenda Moore, who helped plan and organize the event.

Individuals and organizations can sign up to volunteer or sponsor at www.saginaw-mi.com/cleanup.
