Does your lawn have what it takes to win the title of Saginaw’s “Best Kept Yard”? The city is getting ready for another successful Neighborhood Recognition Award program and will begin accepting nominations on Friday, May 10.

In its seventh year, the annual contest is intended to thank those residents and business owners who take pride in their properties and care about the look of their neighborhood. Residents, Neighborhood Groups, and City of Saginaw employees can nominate local homes and businesses for exceptional yard work and landscaping improvements. One award from each Neighborhood Quadrant will be selected for June, July, and August. Monthly winners will be notified by the City of Saginaw S.C.E.N.I.C. Division and will receive a recognition certificate and a yard sign to display in their yard. One grand prize winner will be chosen from the monthly winners and announced at the October Neighborhood Association Action Group meeting.

“The feedback we have received shows that our citizens want to accentuate the good things in their neighborhoods,” said James Martin, S.C.E.N.I.C. Chief Inspector. “This program recognizes exceptional work and acknowledges those residents that help make Saginaw beautiful. We want these citizens to know that we appreciate what they do. We hope this recognition program will not only build pride in our neighborhoods but also unity between neighbors. It means so much when one neighbor recognizes another for their hard work and efforts.”
