The City of Saginaw is just a week away from the start of the 2024 Memorial Cup Event, and the City has some exciting activities planned for guests and residents, including a community-wide scavenger hunt with a chance to win over $10,000 in prizes.

The “Hare Hunt” community scavenger hunt will take place May 22 through June 2, 2024. During the event, 21 hares, aka Saginaw “beany bunnies”, will be on display throughout Saginaw and surrounding areas in Saginaw County. Participants can scan the unique QR code at each hare location to be entered into the various prize drawings, which include gift cards to local businesses and restaurants, local event tickets, merchandise from local businesses, Saginaw “swag” bags and guest packages to local venues such as Sawmill Golf Course, Zehnder’s, and Soaring Eagle Casino. Each hare that is found will increase the odds of winning a slice of over $10,000 in prizes. The QR code will automatically lead to a specially designed webpage, which will feature all bunnies, a map of their locations, lists to all sponsor websites and other information about things to do in Saginaw during the Memorial Cup.

The Hare Hunt community-wide scavenger hunt is designed to encourage visitors and locals alike to explore the entertainment, cultural, and civic locations that make the Great Lakes Bay Region so unique and spectacular.

Cassi Zimmerman, Director of Planning and Economic Development, commented on the event, “The 2024 Memorial Cup hockey tournament will bring thousands of hockey fans and visitors to the Great Lakes Bay Region. We should be proud of our city and all that we have to offer our residents and visitors. Saginaw has something for everyone, whether it’s our one of a kind local restaurants, our museums and public art murals, entertainment venues, or rustic parks and nature centers, there is a place for you to enjoy here in Saginaw. We want everyone, guests and local residents, to participate in the community-wide scavenger hunt. This is a great time to explore our community. Each site of the Hare Hunt highlights our rich history and diversity, as well as the entertainment venues and businesses.”
