Low and low-middle income families may qualify. Applicants are asked to provide proof of residency, by way of a copy of the deed and a current utility bill, along with proof of income.
Property taxes and water-sewer bill are required to be up to date, but if someone is falling short, aid may be available.
The City Council has received $52 in federal funds through ARPA, the federal American Recovery Plan Act, and approved a $3.8 million share for the Saginaw Home Rehabilitation Program.
Last winter’s startup was furnaces, with about 50 installed so far and 150 more pending. Roofs are the second phase, to be followed by windows this summer. Homeowners with additional needs may ask city staff for advice on other assistance programs, or call the Saginaw County Community Action Center, CAC, (989) 753-7741. For home ownership, Habitat for Humanity, (989) 753-5200.
Residents needing special accommodations can also schedule an appointment with city staff starting Monday, April 24 through April 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please contact (989) 577-0184 or email ARPASERVICE@saginaw-mi.com. Due to limited funds, selection will be based on lowest income and/or need.
