City Manager Tim Morales has appointed Kristine Bolzman as the new City Clerk effective Friday, September 1, 2023. Kris will replace former City Clerk, Janet Santos, who retired on August 31st.
Kris began her career with the City in April 2013 when she joined the Fiscal Services Department as the Treasury Customer Service Coordinator; she later transferred to the City Clerk’s Office in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant. Kris has worked in all service areas within the City Clerk’s Office and was appointed Deputy City Clerk in 2016. As Deputy City Clerk, Kris has played a key role in the appointment process for all Boards and Commissions and maintaining the integrity of our elections, working to provide results in a timely manner and improve and upgrade our systems. She has further illustrated her dedication by attending events throughout the year to help educate and register voters.
Kris earned the designation of Michigan Professional Municipal Clerk (MiPMC) from the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks in 2019. She earned the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation through the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in 2021 and is currently working toward her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) certification. Additionally, Kris is active in the Saginaw County Area Clerk’s Association and became a Director on the Executive Board in 2018, the Vice President in 2022, and President in June this year.
After serving in the City Clerk’s Office for nearly 10 years, Ms. Bolzman anticipates great things as she steps into this new leadership position. “I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to serve the city in this new capacity as the City Clerk. I was able to gain invaluable knowledge in my previous role as Deputy City Clerk and working with former Clerk Santos. I look forward to building on the great work our team has accomplished and continue to streamline the efficiency and service level in our office.” said Bolzman.
City Manager Tim Morales commented on the promotion, “Kris will bring the knowledge and experience that is needed to move the department forward during this pivotal time as we prepare for the 2024 elections. I’m confident that Kris will be a great addition to our leadership team.”
